Lily Bend Lamb
Grass-Fed & Grass-Finished

At Lily Bend Farm, great flavor starts with healthy soil. We rotate our lambs through a variety of  pasture grasses, a practice that honors the land and produces exceptionally lean, tender lamb. Unlike grain-finished meat, our grass-fed lamb offers a delicate, lean flavor profile that is as nourishing as it is delicious. From our pastures to your table, we look forward to sharing Lily Bend Lamb with you.

Grass-Fed & Grass Finished

Grass-fed lamb is raised on a natural diet of diverse pasture grasses and forage, rather than grain, allowing the animals to grow at a slower and healthier pace. This traditional method results in a leaner, more nutrient-dense meat.

Rotational Grazing

Rotational grazing is the practice of moving our sheep between fenced sections of pasture, allowing the lambs to always graze on the freshest, most nutrient-dense forage. This intentional rhythm gives the land time to rest and keeps the lambs healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: HOW DOES THE PRICING WORK?

A: You purchase the whole animal, we transport it to the butcher for you, and you pay $11 per pound based on the hanging weight of the lamb at the butcher. To make pricing simple, we include the butcher’s kill/cut/wrap fees totaling $165 in your $11/lb. pricing. Our lambs generally finish between 40-50 pounds hanging weight so you can expect to pay between $400 and $575 for a whole lamb processed for you freezer.

Q: HOW MUCH MEAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

A: The final total of packaged meat is approximately 70% of the hanging weight (this doesn’t include the bones which are approximately 6-7 pounds). Exact yield depends on cut styles. A 45 pound hanging weight will usually yield between 30-35 pounds of packaged meat, plus bones.

Q: WHAT CUTS OF MEAT SHOULD I GET?

A: Our order form allows you to custom select how you would like the butcher to process your lamb.

For those who want to place their selection in the trust of their farmer (a fellow lamb-lover), we offer our Farmer’s Choice package, which we find most customers to enjoy the diversity of. You can select this option on your order form.

Q: HOW MUCH FREEZER SPACE DO I NEED?

A: Not as much as you would think, a packaged whole lamb (without bones) will take up about half the space of most household refrigerator freezers if packed well.

Q: WHEN WILL THE MEAT BE READY?

A: Your lamb meat will be ready in mid-late August from Lower Valley Processing. We will contact customers around this time for pickup arrangements. Feel free to contact us at any point prior with questions.
